How do you keep motivated in your career?

Being motivated in your career has requirements that comes from both the employee and the employer. It is a desire within the individual to not settle with doing the same thing and that takes initiative. However, the employer needs to provide good incentives whether they are small environmental changes for a better and healthier environment to monetary incentives such as compensation increases and opportunities to take on new challenges. The individual must demonstrate some ability to learn and research new areas but the employer cannot just let the individual do it on his/her own and should provide support whether it is internal or external.
