Moved into technology within the hospitality industry working with databases. Through a referral, I moved to Linedata to work in the financial industry. While my analytical training started me as a project consultant, I then moved to ASP operations combining my technical understanding with financial services workflows. Taking on larger projects, I became team lead and then manager of the consulting team at Linedata.
Senior Manager of N. America consulting and advisory team.
I manage a tenured team of consultants offering both business workflow and technical understanding to Linedata clients. I also manage a component of the training team creating training video contents using subject matter experts and generating scripts for review and then to production. As a Senior Manager, I have to keep an eye on consulting revenues while making sure that my team's capacity is within their abilities. This requires good people management skills. I also work with engineering, product to prioritize client issues and with sales to provide clear statements of work.
There is always something new that I am learning.
Working at Linedata has been challenging which is something I enjoy. I'm not from the financial services industry and as a provider of services, I have expanded my knowledge to all areas of the trading and portfolio management workflows and gained understanding of the variety of assets that our clients manage. Working on projects offer me a clear beginning and end so that with each new projects, there are different groups of people I work with and different challenges. The essence of teamwork is very important at Linedata and being in a large company, but still feeling small enough to be known is something that is beneficial to being a Linedata employee. The office is a very collaborative environment.
Always be learning
Linedata is a place where a person with strong motivation, excellent self management and a willingness to 'get dirty' will be rewarded. You can never give your whole life to work and at Linedata, I strive to maintain a healthy balance of work and life for my team and for myself. With project work, there will be times where we have to push hard and deliver extra efforts, but having strong communication and having fun must be part of it. Life happens outside of work and we cannot neglect it.
I am proud of working in an environment with diversity
I believe in developing new talent and making sure that we have diversity in the make-up of Linedata's environment. As part of senior leadership, we have a responsibility of creating the environment that our employees work in and I work closely with HR to make this true at Linedata. In addition, working hard is only part of the equation as we also need to have good relationships within the organization. I never take credit for the work of others and as a manager, it is my responsibility to make sure that the work of my team is recognized.
