For me, one of the most important soft skills is communication. If you're working in a complex domain then it's really key to be able to express problems and solutions in an understandable way. It's likely that you'll be interacting with a variety of interested parties such as product owners, QA and other developers. Each will need to understand a different aspect of the product. As a developer it's invaluable to be able to interact with these people and really understand their needs There's no point writing perfect code if it doesn't match what the client needs it to do!
